• A large part of Iraq’s manufacturing including the oil and gas industry, as well as for the production of tobaccos, leather and cement is located in Baghdad, except for heavy industry.

• The governorate of Baghdad is the centre of the Iraqi economic, commercial, banking and financial sectors. According to the WFB, Baghdad governorate had the lowest unemployment rates ranging from 6% to 10% (2016 data), while unemployment among persons aged 15-24 was 5-7% (2017 data).

• And the regional average of the Middle East and North Africa (0,81 kg/day/capita)
• Iraq’s waste generation rate comparable to that of other oil-producing countries,
• Is also as high as that of developed countries (Japan: 0,95 kg/person, US: 1,33, Italy: 1,34, Canada: 1,94, Germany: 1,72, France: 1,38)

• Waste collection coverage 90%

• Collected waste amount 11.197 ton/day
